Allotment awarded Level 4 RHS Award for Community & Sensory Garden Project.

Stamford Street Allotment Society and TCV (the Conservation Volunteers) are proud to announce that it has been awarded a prestigious Level 4 rating in the Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) "It's Your Neighbourhood" awards ceremony.

This award recognises the Allotments efforts in developing its community garden project and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of volunteers and the local community.

The RHS "It's Your Neighbourhood" award is a nationwide initiative that celebrates community-led gardening projects, focusing on enhancing local environments and encouraging sustainable living.

The awards are graded from Level 1 ("Establishing") to Level 5 ("Outstanding"), with Stamford Street Allotment Society proudly achieving a Level 4 ("Thriving") status. This recognition highlights our significant progress, innovative approaches, and strong community involvement.

The community garden, currently in the final stages of construction, has already become a focal point of the allotment site, including during the most recent Bonfire Night event held there.

The space has been designed to provide a variety of amenities, including raised beds for accessible gardening, communal planting areas, and educational spaces for local schools and groups.

TCV has collaborated with Stamford Street allotment society to find volunteers who have made this project possible.

Chair and Vice-Chair of the Stamford Street Allotment Society, Farhan Patel and Phil Hill, are delighted about the award and are looking ahead to the project's completion.

It reflects the incredible effort put in by our plot holders, committee members and volunteers and supports who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. We are looking forward to opening our doors to the wider community very soon, offering a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy and learn about gardening."

The "It's Your Neighbourhood" scheme is part of the RHS Britain in Bloom campaign, aiming to support grassroots community projects that make a positive impact on local environments. The Level 4 award indicates that Stamford Street Allotment Society has shown impressive commitment to the project, significant improvements in horticulture, and strong community involvement. The Society is now setting its sights on achieving the top Level 5 rating in future assessments.
